Simmons, Berton Jr. (30 OCT 1957 - 28 FEB 2011)
Berton Simmons Jr., 53, of Curtiss, passed away Monday, Feb. 28,
2011, at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at
the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Visitation will
be Saturday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of
service.
Burton was born Oct. 30, 1957, to Berton and Majorie Simmons Sr. in
Oakland, Mich. He received his education in Pontiac, Mich., and
attended Pontiac Northern High School. After high school, he was a
chef in Pontiac area restaurants.
Berton married Katherine Krause on Sept. 3, 1998, in Medford. He
was a cook for the Abbyland Truck Stop in Curtiss, McDonald's in
Abbotsford and the Medos in Abbotsford. He took great pride in his
children and their sporting events and also had a passion for music
and movies.
Berton is survived by his wife, Katherine Simmons of Curtiss;
children, Brandon Krause, Jamal Krause-Simmons, James
Krause-Simmons, Precious Krause-Simmons, all of Curtiss, Nakesha
Brock and Keiron Payne of Pontiac, Mich.; parents, Berton and
Majorie Simmons Sr. of Pontiac, Mich.; sisters, Anita Simmons of
Waterford, Mich., Elaine Simmons of Flint, Mich., Lillian Diane
Wims of Pontiac, Mich., and Laverne Williams of Pontiac, Mich.;
brothers, David Simmons of Pontiac, Mich., Bertram Clay of Davison,
Mich., and Oliver Greg Bell of Lake Orion, Mich.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established at a later
date.
The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is assisting the
family with funeral arrangements.
