Chadwick, Millard Leland (24 August 1896 - 8 May 1961)

Millard Chadwick, 64, Rt. 1, Greenwood, widely known Clark County Jersey breeder and dairy farmer died Monday at his home of a heart attack.  Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 9 a.m. from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Joseph Eisenmann officiating.  Burial will be made in the parish cemetery with military rites.

Millard Leland Chadwick son of the late Marcus and Ella (Tracy) Chadwick was born in Greenwood, August 24, 1896.  He received his education in the Mound School and was graduated from Greenwood High School.  He also attended a business college in La Crosse.

On August 10, 1918, he enlisted in the navy in Milwaukee.  He was stationed at Great Lakes and on May 7, 1919, was discharged as a Seaman 2/c at Hampton Roads, VA.

He served as a member of the Mound School board for several years and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville and of the American Legion.

On June 8, 1927, he was married to the former Mathilda Wasserburger in Neillsville.

Mr. Chadwick is survived by his wife, and three children: Robert and James Chadwick, both of Rt. 1, Greenwood; and Mrs. William (Lillian) Juneau, Chicago, Ill.  Other survivors include six grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Fred (Helen) Behrens, Greenwood, and Mrs. Lee (name was smudged) Neville, Rib Lake.

A general rosary service will be said tonight (Thursday) at 8 o’clock at the Bergemann Funeral Home.

A requiem high mass was read Friday morning for Millard Chadwick, 64, Rt. 1 Greenwood, from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville.  He died May 8, at his farm home. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

Pallbearers were: Allen Gutenburger, Ervin Heck, Alphonse Linster, Frank Murphy, George Schaefer, and Francis Suckow.

In charge of the military rites was the Haugen-Richmond Post No. 73 of the Neillsville American Legion.  In command was Arne Petersen.  Colorbearers were Gust Carl and Ernest Vine.  Color guard and firing squad consisted of Clarence Haigh, Charles Poole, Arnold Henchen, Leon Stanley, and Ernest Ott.  P. C. Ludovic was the service officer and bugler was Gary Thornton.

R. McConnel, Earl Druding, Ellsworth; Mrs. Josephine Sherman, Mr. and Mrs. William Boller, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. James Haas, Barron; Mr. and Mrs. High Christie, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Murphy, Mr. and Mrs. Evan Hatton, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Gutenburger, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Heck, Eli Heck, and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Suckow, all of Greenwood.
