Baskovec, Joseph (25 November 1887 - 4 May 1961)
Joseph Baskovec, 73, of Willard died May 4, at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Pekol, 4 ½ miles west of Greenwood. He had been in poor health a year with a heart ailment.
Mr. Baskovec was born November 25, 1887, in Yugoslavia. At the age of 17 years he came from Yugoslavia to America and settled in Chicago. He was married to Frances Zell on May 26, 1910, in Chicago.
They came to Greenwood in 1932, and settled on a farm near Willard. He retired from farming three years ago and lived with the Pekol family. He wife died in 1945.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Jennie) Pekol of Willard, and Mrs. Anton (Frances) Debevec of Greenwood; and a son, Joseph of Chicago. Seven grandchildren, a great-grandson; and a sister in Yugoslavia also survive.
Funeral services were held Monday from Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard. The Rev. Aloysius Madic officiated, with burial in Holy Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: five grandsons: Stanley Jr., James, and Ernest Pekol, and Charles and Tony Debevec and a nephew, Ernest Stevens.
People from away attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Baskovec, Mrs. Joseph Stevens, Ernest Stevens, Mrs. Anna Starc, Ernest Pekol, Peter Zell and Robert Pernic, all of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Zulich of Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rakovec and Miss Janet Schmitler of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Malinowski and Mr. and Mrs. John Rakovec of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Florian Herrick of Colby; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pekol, Margie and Frank Jr., of Neillsville, Mrs. Leonard Jensen of Withee and many relatives and friends from the Willard and Greenwood area.
