Hallowell, Stoughton (8 FEB 1885 - 5 APR 1955)

 

Stoughton Hallowell, 70, died at his home on Loyal, route 1 (Clark Co., Wis.) , at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 1955.  He was a victim of suicide by hanging.

 

Funeral services were held at the Myre Funeral Home at 10 a.m. Thursday.  The Rev. W. M. Mecklenburg officiated.  Following the services here the body was taken to Hartford for further services and burial on Friday.

 

Stoughton Hallowell was born in Dodge Co., Feb. 8, 1885.  He lived in Dodge County until 1911 when he went to Montana.  He was married to Eav Lohr in Montana, Aug. 5, 1915.  They came to Clark County in 1916 and settled on the farm in Beaver where he lived until his death.

 

For 18 years he was treasurer of the school district in which he lived, and for five years he served the town of Beaver as clerk.

 

He is survived by his wife, two sons, John of Pewaukee, and James, at home, two grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Hattie Ferguson of Hartford, and one brother, John of Hartford.
