Mattheisen, Loretta Mae (14 MAY 1955)
Nuptial vows were exchanged at a ceremony at the Loyal Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 1955, between Loretta Mae Mattheisen and Russell E. Cook. The Rev. W. M. Mecklenburg was officiant at the double ring ceremony which united in marriage the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mattheisen, Marshfield, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Cook, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.)
The bride wore a blue suit with white accessories. She wore a rhinestone necklace, a gift of the groom. Her corsage was a white orchid, forget-me-nots and yellow roses. For her matron of honor the bride chose her sister, Mrs. Norman Hamus, Marshfield, R. 1, who wore a blue-gray suit with white accessories and a corsage of pink roses and white carnations.
The bridesmaid, Miss Dolores Haasl of Milladore, wore a blue-green suit with white accessories and a corsage of pink roses and white carnations.
The groom chose for his attendants, Norman Hamus, Marshfield, R. 1, as best man; Marvin Mattheisen, Marshfield, brother of the bride, as groomsman; and Richard Mattheisen, Marshfield, brother of the bride, and Jerome Bentzler, Shawano, brother-in-law of the groom, as ushers.
The church was decorated with baskets of garden flowers.
During the services, Mrs. W. M. Mecklenburg sang "I Love Your Truly" and "O Perect Love." Mrs. Byron Zepplin was organist.
The bride’s mother wore a dress of black and white, the groom’s mother wore a blue dress, and both wore white accessories and corsages of red and pink carnations.
The bride attended school in Marshfield and the groom attended the Lyons School and Loyal High School. He is employed by the Soo Line Railroad.
When they return from a honeymoon, which will be spent in Milwaukee and Shawano, they will live at Loyal.
Guests who attended the reception which was held at 4 p.m. at the home of the bride’s parents, were Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Bentzler and children, Shawano; Mrs. George Rietz and son, Athens; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miller and granddaughters, Owen; Mr. and Mrs. John Miller and son, Thorp; Mr. and Mrs. Dick Brandt and Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Mattheisen and children, Stanley; Mr. and Mrs. Art Foldy and daughter, Boyd; Miss Dolores Haasl, Milladore; Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Cook and the Rev. and Mrs. W. M. Mecklenburg and son, Loyal; and Mr. and Mrs. James Grassman, Mr. and Mrs. Andy Mattheisen, Mrs. Clifford Eckes, Marion Borofka, Sandra Steger, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Peterson, and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hamus, Marshfield.
