Rueth, Edward "Eddie" Stanley (17 May 1927 - 27 February 2011)

 

Edward S. "Eddie" Rueth, 83, of Loyal died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

 

Edward Stanley Rueth was born May 17, 1927, rural Loyal, the son of Leo and Agnes (Suda) Rueth.  He was raised on the family farm and received his education at St. Anthony’s Catholic School in Loyal. After completing his education, Eddie worked various jobs until his marriage to Florence M. Schmidt April 6, 1948, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, in Loyal.

 

They farmed and raised their 10 children in the Town of Sherman. In the early years of their marriage, Eddie worked for the railroad, did logging during the winter and worked road construction.  He continued farming until the time of his death.

 

Eddie was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and had many interests, but especially loved farming, hunting and fishing.

 

He will be dearly missed by his 10 children: Patricia (Donald) Bangart of Greenwood; Robert (Marie) , Thomas (Anne) , Ralph, and Robert (Alora) all of Loyal, Susan (Michael) Gumz of Athens; Bernadette (Lawrence) Quelle of Loyal; Roy (Helen) of Unity; Rose Lindekugel (Neal Mondloch) of Loyal; Kay Krings (John Rafferty) of New Brighton, MN; 19 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Jayne Kolbeck of Marshfield; two brothers, Bernard "Bun" Rueth of Loyal and Herbert "Chubb" (Kathleen) Rueth of Parma, ID; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence, July 1, 2005; one granddaughter, Angel Dawn Rueth, April 20, 1990; one grandson, Adam Quelle, May 19, 1993; his parents; one sister, Mary Ann Rueth; one brother, Patrick Rueth and twin brothers at birth.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal. Rev. Jerome Naduvathaniyil will officiate and burial will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers will be sons and son-in-laws: Robert Rueth, Thomas Rueth, Ralph Rueth, Roger Rueth, Roy Rueth, Donald Bangart, Michael Gumz and Lawrence Quelle.  Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons and godsons. Visitation will be held at Cuddie Funeral Home in Loyal Thursday, March 3, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary service, and at the church, Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service.
