Haines, Gena Helena (8 May 1883 - 28 May 1961)
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Neillsville Methodist Church for Mrs. Robert Haines, 78, of Neillsville, who died Sunday in Memorial Hospital of a heart ailment. The Rev. Virgil Holmes officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Haines, the former Gena Helena Helgeson, was born May 8, 1883, in Fennimore, Wis. She received her education in the Grant County Schools and was a dressmaker in Chicago before her marriage to the late Robert Haines on September 8, 1909, in Castle Rock.
They farmed at Montfort until 1920, when they moved onto a farm in the Town of Grant, east of Neillsville. They resided there until 1953, when they retired and moved to Neillsville.
She was a member of the Methodist Church in Neillsville and belonged to the Women’s Society of Christian Service.
Six children survive: Francis of Neillsville, Mrs. Russell (Ella) Gardner of Granton, Mrs. Alex (Rebecca) Goser, of Stockbridge, Minn., Glenn of Neillsville, Mrs. Arvin (Anna) Liebzeit of Greenwood; and Eugene of Hutchinson, Minn. Other survivors include 20 grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters: Elmer Helgeson, State of Washington; Henry Helgeson, Gays Mills; Mrs. Inga Larson, Montfort; Mrs. Peter (Mabel) Johnson, Viroqua; Mrs. George (Margaret) Johnson, Green Bay; Mrs. Harold (Mildred) Blake, Boscobel; Clara Helgeson, and Velma Helgeson, Fennimore.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Bergemann Funeral Home.
