Withee, Wisconsin (1 June 1961)

 

The WSCS June meeting was held at the Withee Methodist Church Wednesday.  Election of new officers was held.  The following were elected: president, Opal Martinson; vice president, Doris Buchanan, Sr.; secretary, Iva Capes; treasurer, Leona Himes; secretary of Spiritual Life, Emma Burmeister; youth work, Ethel Johnson; Christian social relations, Margaret Vater; promotion, Dorothy Burmeister; supplies, Doris Buchanan, Jr.; educational service, Leona Himes; children’s work, Opal Martinson; literature and publications, Iva Capes; and student t work, Lois Turner.

 

Special memorial services were held at Riverside Cemetery Tuesday or the new "Court of Honor Memorial" which was unveiled and dedicated at special Memorial Day services. This Memorial was erected by Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Tufts, former Withee residents and now of Tacoma, Wash.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Glen Buchanan, Withee, drove to Emerald Sunday t o visit Mr. Buchanan’s elderly cousin, Mrs. Mayme Granger, who has been hospitalized.

 

Mrs. Charles Zivney of Owen has received word of the birth of a son to Mrs. Kenneth Beck of Plymouth. The baby was named Gregory Jay.  Mrs. Beck is the former Nona Mertens of Withee. This is their second child.

 

Mrs. Ronald Etterly and infant daughter of Wilmette, Ill., is visiting at the home of her parents, Mrs. Julius Rohland of Rt. 2, Withee. Her husband was here for Memorial Day and she returned with him Sunday.

 

Sunday, Mrs. A. C. Little went to La Valle where she attended a party for Genevieve Mortimer.
