West, Sylvia (Marriage - 17 June 1961)

Nuptial vows were exchanged Saturday in the Zion Lutheran Church in Granton uniting in marriage Miss Sylvia West, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James West of Neillsville, and Lester Goke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Goke of Platteville. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. L. E. Schreiber before an altar adorned with baskets of pink and white peonies and orange blossoms.

"O Perfect Love" and "The Wedding Prayer" were sung by Miss Carol West, sister of the bride, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Schreiber.

Mr. West gave his daughter in marriage. She was attired in a chapel length gown of imported hand clipped Chantilly lace and tulle. The Bateau neckline, trimmed with pearls and sequins, accented the fitted Basque styled bodice, which buttoned down the back, and had three-quarter-length sleeves. A lace peplum cascaded from the waist into a chapel train.  Her imported bridal illusion fingertip veil was attached to an open crown headpiece. She carried a bouquet of pink rose buds and stephanotis.

The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Carol West, as maid-of-honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Alan Voigt, another sister, and Miss Doris Goke, a sister of the groom. They wore dresses of pink silk organza over taffeta.

Roger Goke of Platteville served his brother as bestman. Alan Voigt and David Goke were his groomsmen. Jim Voight and Spencer Blum ushered.

Little Laurie Voigt, a cousin (niece) of the bride, was the flower girl, and Tim Voigt, her nephew, carried the rings on a satin pillow.

Pink and white peonies decked the church parlors where 150 guests attended a reception.

On their return from a wedding trip through the West, including Yellowstone National Park and the Black Hills, they will reside at Cochrane.

The bride is a graduate of Stout State College, and has been teaching home economics for the last two years in Eleva-Strum High School.  She will teach next year at Cochrane and Fountain City.

The groom is a graduate of the Platteville High School and Platteville State College. The last three years he has been employed by the Soil Conservation service in Neillsville and in July is being transferred to Buffalo County.  He will be located in Alma.
