Women of the Moose (Officers Installation - 1961)
Mrs. Bettie Opelt was installed as senior regent of the Women of the Moose at ceremonies Tuesday evening in the American Legion Hall. Mrs. Don Champoux, installing regent, was assisted by Mrs. Maybelle Meredith, Mrs. Marian Potter, Mrs. Marian Linster and Mrs. Irene Tibbett.
Mrs. Wasserburger, retiring senior regent reported the activities of Clark Count Chapter 705. Contributions have been made throughout the year to a scholarship fund for a Mooseheart graduate who wishes to enter college or receive special training, to the Academy of Friendship scholarship and the College of Regents scholarship fund.
"Money was raised," said Mrs. Wasserburger, "through food sales and card parties. Christmas in October provided gifts for Mooseheart and Moosehaven. A book was contributed to the Neillsville and Mooseheart libraries, which is an annual project. Clothing and food was collected for needy families in the local area and a Christmas treat was sent to aged citizens of the community.
"The organization contributed to the special school, sent cards and visited patients in hospitals and nursing homes, and contributed to sponsoring a student nurse. Towels and playground equipment were sent to Mooseheart."
A dinner was served following the installation.
