Robert I Dow took Joan B. Welsh as his bride Saturday, Aug. 27, 1955, in a 9 a.m. ceremony at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal, at which the Rev. Norbert King officiated. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Welsh, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.-, and the parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Irving Dow of Greenwood.
The bride’s white floor length dress was styled with a fitted bodice of lace over satin, pointed at the front waistline, a net yoke, sequin trimmed, a peter pan collar edged in sequins, long lace sleeves, pointed at the wrists, and lace covered buttons on the sleeves and back. Her full skirt was of satin. Her lace edged, fingertip veil was attached to a headpiece trimmed with sequins, pearls, and rhinestones. She carried an irregular arrangement of white glamelias and cascading glad florets.
She was attended by Miss Irene Wolf, as maid of honor, and Miss Beth Olson of Minnesota, a future sister-in-law of the bride, and Mrs. Albert Wetzel of Blair, as bridesmaids. Miss Wolf wore a waltz length gown of pink net over pink taffeta. The strapless bodice and ruffled skirt were worn with a pink taffeta jacket and a rhinestone trimmed pink ruffled headpiece. Miss Olson wore orchid net over orchid taffeta, and Mrs. Wetzel wore yellow net over yellow taffeta. Both gowns were floor length with strapless bodice, plain skirts and had taffeta jackets to match. Their ruffled headpieces were rhinestones trimmed and also matched the gowns in color. The bouquets of the three attendants were, respectively, pink, orchid, and yllow glamelias and cascading glad florets.
Gerald Schmeiser, Medford, a cousin of the bride, was best man and A/2c Richard Welsh, Minnesota, brother of the bride, and Albert Wetzel, Blair, cousin of the groom, were groomsmen.
James Welsh, Loyal, brother of the bride, and Charles Krapf, Greenwood, seated the guests.
The bride’s mother wore a navy blue dress with design and the groom’s mother wore navy blue. Both wore corsages of pink and white carnations.
A breakfast was held at the home of the bride’s uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Vogel. Dinner and supper were served in St. Anthony’s Church parlors, and a reception was held in the recreation room at Braun’s Bowling Alley.
The bride is a graduate of the Loyal High School, and the groom is a graduate of the Greenwood High School. He is employed by Plautz Brothers of Willard.
The new Mr. and Mrs. Dow will live at Greenwood.
The wedding was attended by out of town guests from Medford, Greenwood, Blair, Neillsville, Columbus, Marshfield, Minnesota and Illinois.
