Geiger, John (24 JUN 1871 - 16 OCT 1955)
John Geiger, 84, died in St. Joseph’s Hospital at 7:45 p.m Oct. 16, 1955. Death was caused by complications which followed a boken hip, the result of a fall two weeks ago.
Funeral services were held in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday with Father Edmund Cramer of Stanley, Father Arthur Cramer of Hewitt, and Father Oscar Cramer of Edgar, officiating at the Solemn Requiem High Mass. The three officiants are nephews of Mrs. Geiger. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield.
John Geiger was born in Germany, June 24, 1871. When 12 years of age, he came with his parents to America and settled in Dorchester. At the age of 13 years he started his career as a shoemaker and continued in this work until a year ago when he retired.
He was married to Clara Maurer in St. John’s Catholic Church of Marshfield Nov. 12, 1902. They moved to Loyal soon after their marriage and have since resided here.
He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society.
He is survived by his wife and one sister, Mrs. Mary Stangl of Marshfield. One sister and two brothers preceded him in death.
