Voight, Alan (Aug 1953)
Corp. Alan Voight, who is stationed about five miles from Seoul in Korea sent home to his parents Mr. and Mrs. Gust Voight a pictures of the company mascot, an orphaned Korean youth which the boys nicknamed Johnny.
Johnny has traveled with the group for quite a while and has moved with them at least once. He has his regular bunk with the soldiers, and eats with them. Tey even managed to sew him up in a uniform as you can see in the picture.
The boys think that Johnny is about 6 years old although no one knows for sure.
When Corp. Voight wrote that the natives were so badly in need of food and clothing, his parents promptly packed up a shipment and sent it over to help out a bit. They sent it direct to Alan who will see to it that it goes where it is needed. If anyone else has an idea along similar lines, Corp. Voight will be glad to direct the material where it will do the most good.
Corp. Voight, 23, is a graduate of the Loyal High School. He will have spent two years in service this coming November 28th at which time he has hopes of securing a discharge.
He is working as a dispatcher with a pipeline construction group. Prior to entering the service he worked for Norman Luchterhand.
