Loyal, Wisconsin Locals (20 July 1961)

A family reunion was held Sunday at the Vaner Lindgren home in Withee. About 50 were present for a picnic lunch and supper. Those from Loyal attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Thomas and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Lindgren and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Severson and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Vern Severson.

Tuesday, Mrs. Jake Henseler, Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Henseler, Sr., Miss Katherine Henseler, Mrs. Orville Luchterhand and three children returned home after spend five days in Evanston, Ill., at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Genenz, a daughter of the senior Henselers.  Saturday they attended the wedding of Connie Genenz, daughter of the Arthur Genenzes, and Grant Westenfelder.

Mr. and Mrs. Chester Smith, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Philip Smith of Spencer, spent the weekend in Darlington visiting relatives and friends.  Sunday they attended a Smith-Douglas family reunion. About 150 attended.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Young and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Loos returned Saturday after a five-day fishing and sight-seeing trip into Canada. Tuesday they traveled to Lac Du Flambeau, visited Copper Falls and Duluth. From Duluth they took the north shore road to Port Arthur, Canada, and from there they traveled to Red Lake, Canada, where they spent a couple of days fishing. On their return they visited International Falls, Minn.

Mr. and Mrs. Emil Bischoff and Mrs. Clara Bischoff of Horicon, and Mr. and Mrs. August Bischoff of Stanley, spent the weekend at the Oscar Neeb home Sunday.  Mr. and Mrs. Neeb and their guests were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wetzel in Neillsville.

Sunday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ertl were Mr. and Mrs. Louie Pachal.

Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Thomas were hosts at a party celebrating their 16^th wedding anniversary. Cards were played and refreshments were served. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Paul Young, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Young and family, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Greves of Unity, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Catlin, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ertl and Mrs. Belle Wehling.

Wednesday morning Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Pieper met their daughter, Mrs. James Lauenstein and her son, Scotty, of Victorville, Calif., at the Marshfield airport.  Mrs. Lauenstein, the former Marlene Pieper, and baby flew from California to Milwaukee Tuesday and spent the night with Mr. and Mrs. Orvin Litka.  Wednesday they flew to Marshfield. They will visit here for about three weeks.

Wednesday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Pieper had as their guests, Mrs. James Lauenstein and son, Scotty, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Olson and son, Jimmy and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Barr of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Rueth and son, Mark, and Mrs. James Helm and children, Sandra, Sharon and Randy.

Sunday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Brenner were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Seveck and Ben Western, all of Stanley.

Jean Jaeger of Cleveland, O., who has spent several weeks at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Roberts, spent last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Brenner as a guest of Marlene Brenner. Other guests there Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brenner of Stanley, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brenner, Jr., of St. Paul, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Western and family of Stanley, and Mr. and Mrs. Willard Claussen and son of Owen.

The Rev. Bede Clancy officiated Sunday at the baptism of Daniel Jerome Shupe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Shupe.  Sponsors were Richard Syth and Mariann Prinic. 

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Meyer and son visited Friday with Mrs. Meyer’s sister, Sister M. Dorothea, in Menomonie. She is attending Stout College summer session, working on her master’s degree. They also visited in Spring Valley at the Jack Kapping home.  The Kappings are former Loyal residents.

George Zuehlke, Jr., Paul Radke and David Meyer, the latter two from Oconomowoc are spending a week in northern Wisconsin and Michigan.

J. R. Thomas entered a hospital in Marshfield July 10 and underwent surgery the next day.

Mrs. Byron Zepplin took Cindy Trindal, Alana Zepplin, Karlene Brussow and Joan Bloomfield to Pine Lake Methodist camp Monday, where they are spending a week. The camp is located near Westfield.

George Zuehlke, Jr., visited William Rellis in Wautoma Wednesday.  Mr. Rellis, local store owner, is recuperating at his sister’s home after suffering a heart attack several weeks ago.

The "Circle Eight" Loyal square dance club met Saturday evening in the Loyal High School gym.  Hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Herman Noeldner and Mr. and Mrs. Verlyn Dux.
