Votava, James (19 July 1895 - 24 July 1961)
James Votava, 66, Rt. 2, Neillsville, died suddenly Monday at his home following a heart attack, suffered while he was mowing lawn.
Funeral services will be held this (Thursday) morning at 10 a.m. from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville, with the Rev. Fr. Bernard T. Kelly officiating. Burial will be made in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Votava, son of the late Egnac and Mary (Vavrovsky) Votava, was born July 19, 1895, in Veseleyville, N. D. he received his education in the school at Pisek, N. D.
On September 30, 1918, he was married to the former Albina Dvorak in Veseleyville. They farmed in North Dakota until 1937 and then moved onto a farm near Medford. In 1945 they moved onto their present farm in the Town of Pine Valley on River Road.
Mr. Votava was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife and the following children: James of Glenbeulah; Vivian "Shorty" of Neillsville; Mrs. Verna Risch of Athens; Mrs. Harriette Behr of Plymouth; Mrs. Viviana Bartelt of Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Virginia Zugich of Sturtevant; and Mrs. Anna Faye Aumann of Neillsville. He is also survived by 33 grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Kostoris, Pisek, N. D., and Mrs. Anna Maresh, Fordville, N. D.
A general Rosary service was said Wednesday evening at the Bergemann Funeral Home.
