Roehrich, Evelyn Mae (22 OCT 1955)

First wedding to be solemnized in the new Emmaus Lutheran Church at Racine was that of Miss Evelyn Mae Roehrich and Roger Duane Mathews, who pledged their vows on Saturday, Oct. 22, 1955, at 3 p.m.  Rev. Thorwald Hansen read the double ring ceremony.

The bride, daughter of Mrs. Norman W. Christensen of Franksville, was given in marriage by her father, Paul Roehrich of Lombard, Ill.  The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Mathews of Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.) .

Young Mrs. Mathews appeared in a floor length gown of pure silk over taffeta.  The full flowing skirt was caught to a contoured Basque of Irish lace with a boat-necked yoke studded with pearls.  Her veil of imported bridal illusion was caught to a queen’s crown of jewels.  She carried white mums and pompons, centered with a white orchid.

Miss Jean Christensen, amid of honor, wore autumn lilac crystalette with a matching headband and held white mums with a lavender orchid.  Robert C. White of Fort Wayne was best man and uncles of the bridal pair, Walter Mathews and Herbert Roehrich ushered.

Mrs. Christensen was gowned in forest green velvet, with accessories and corsage of golden bronze.  Mrs. Mathews featured pink with avocado accessories and a pink and white corsage.

The young couple received at Danish Brotherhood hall in the evening.  They will make their home at Franksville.

Relatives attending the wedding from this area included Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lulloff and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Rueth.
