Tesmer, Shirley J. (13 DEC 1922 - 21 MAR 2011)
LOYAL -- Shirley J. Tesmer, 88, of Loyal, died on Monday, March 21,
2011, at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, surrounded
by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 25, 2011, at
St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Loyal. The Rev. Jerome
Naduvathaniyil will officiate, and burial of cremains will take
place in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be held at Cuddie Funeral Home in Loyal from 5 p.m.
to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 24, 2011, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer
service. Visitation also will be held at the church on Friday, from
10 a.m. until time of service.
Shirley Jean Schmitz was born Dec. 13, 1922, in the town of
Fremont, Clark County, the daughter of William and Adelia (Kopf)
Schmitz. She grew up on the family farm and received her education
in area schools, graduating from Loyal High School in 1940.
Shirley was united in marriage to Eldred H. Tesmer on July 15,
1942, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Chili. Shirley farmed
with her husband in the town of Fremont and also worked at
Weyerhaeuser in Marshfield for 20 years. They retired in 1985 and
moved to Phillips, where they lived until moving to Loyal in
1997.
Shirley was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and a former
member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church, in Chili, where she taught
CCD for many years. She had many interests, but especially loved
spending time with her family, playing cards and fishing.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Eldred, of Loyal; four
children, Alan (Ellen) Tesmer of Chetek, James (Sherry) Tesmer of
Madison, Joanne Tesmer of Marshfield, and Susan (Bob) Devine of
Racine; seven grandsons and 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers,
Leroy Schmitz of Rib Lake, Marlin (Virginia) Schmitz of Granton,
and Gary Schmitz of Spencer; several nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Warren Tesmer,
on Nov. 1, 2007; and one brother, Russell "Bud" Schmitz.
