Makkonen, Oscar (8 March 1878 - 22 August 1961)
Oscar Makkonen, 83, died of a coronary attack in Owen August 22. Funeral services were held from Bethany Lutheran Church, Owen, Friday, with the Rev. H. Wilkman officiating. Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery.
Oscar Makkonen was born in Finland, March 8, 1878. He lived on a farm in the Town of Hoard from 1914-1943, when he retired to Withee. In 1909 he married Tiena Marion, who survives. Other survivors are Oscar, Jr., of Withee; and Reino of Emden, Ill.; daughters, Lina of Chicago; Sarah of Japan; Mrs. Leslie (Martha) Hurley, Kalama, Mich.; Mrs. Gato (Ruth) Limata of Road River, Ore.; and several grandchildren.
