Nazareth Lutheran Church at Withee was the scene of a lovely wedding on Saturday, Feb. 15, 1958, at 4:30 p.m., when Sonja Elizabeth Nielsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nielsen, became the bride of James F. Bock of Northbrook, Ill. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Lauredsen of Deerfield, Ill. Rev. C. W. Nielsen officiated in the double ring ceremony.
The bride entered the church on the arm of her father dressed in a white waltz length gown of lace and tulle, a shoulder length veil held in place with a pearl studded cap. She carried a bouquet of white carnations and red roses.
Martha Lou Peppel attended the bride as maid of honor and Shirley Esp, sister of the groom, as bridesmaid. They wore identical dresses of red velvet with hats to match and carried red and white carnations.
Arthur Esp, brother-in-law of the groom, served as best man, and John Nielsen, brother of the bride, as groomsman. The men wore navy blue suits.
Little Jane Lindow, niece of the bride, was the flower girl. Dressed in a dress of white lace and nylon, she carried a white basket of red rose petals.
Mary Catura, sister of the bride, sang two vocal selections, "The Wedding Prayer" and "The Lord’s Prayer."
She was accompanied by Miss Louise Hansen at the organ.
After a cocktail hour, a delicious turkey dinner was served to 54 guests at the Woodland Hotel dining room.
The out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. M.O. Peppels and Miss Martha Lou Peppels of Lake Forest, Ill., Bertrum Egans of Roselle, Ill., Wallace Lindow of Chili, A.B. Kuhlmans, Karen Crosson, Miles Beatties, Borge Smidts, Jorgen Nielsen, all of Lake Bluff, Ill., Mrs. A. Lauredsen of Deerfield, Ill., Arthur Esp of Highland Park, Ill., L.W. Smith of Fond du Lac, William Skinner of Minneapolis, Ove Rasmussen of Menomonie, Viggo Rasmussen of La Crosse, H.O. Stand of Racine and Don Christensen of Janesville. The local guests were Eldon Caturas, H.V. Christensen, Robert Ruggles, Rev. and Mrs. C. W. Nielsen, Sylvia Larsen, Karen Nielsen and Chris Becks.
After a two week honeymoon in southern Wisconsin and Illinois, the couple will make their home on Haskins Ave., Chicago. The groom is a salesman for the Morgan Linen Co. He is a graduate of Highland Park High School and served four years with the U.S. Marines. The bride is a graduate of Withee High School and attended Grand View College of Des Moines and Eau Claire State College, and is now employed at Marshall Field Co. of Skokie, Ill.
