Memorial Hospital Auxiliary (European Travelogue & Meeting –1961)

Gretchen Hauser will present a travelogue of her trip to Europe in 1960 at the first fall meeting of Memorial Hospital auxiliary, September 8, in Neillsville High School.

A campaign is on to register members in a program to develop cooperation and action.

Receipts from money-raising projects from June 1960-61 include: $795.23 from thrift sale; $163.53, holiday ball; $82.20, food sales; $43.94, rag drive; and $53, pictures sold during hospital week.

Purchases made by the auxiliary for Memorial Hospital and the nursing home include: inland bed safety sides, humidifier, canopy, air pulsating pad, glove rack for sterilizer, inflatable rubber bedpans, pinking sheers, sewing machine, suction pump, electric mixer, electric clocks, curtain material and Christmas decorations.

The auxiliary has recently purchased paint and paid for labor for redecorating the nursing home kitchen.

The organization also promoted the Gray Lady organization.

Proposed projects include a scholarship in nursing, and participation in landscaping of the hospital and new nursing home.

The annual holiday ball will be held December 27.

In an effort to start the fall season of the auxiliary "a hundred strong" each member is asked to bring a prospective member to the September 8 meeting.  Members who have a prospective new member are asked by Mrs. M. V. Overman, president, to call Mrs. Helen Franke, chairman, or other members of the membership committee: Hilda Kurth, Mrs. Clarence Bremer, Ann Hoesly, Mrs. Ted Linster, Mrs. Albert Smith, Mrs. John R. Temte, or Elsie Wolf.

Clara Henchen is secretary; Mrs. Evelyn Schwantes, treasurer; Mrs. Connie Holum, in charge of the gift cart in the hospital; Miss Henchen, chairman of the thrift shop; and Mrs. Clara Nehs, in charge of volunteer workers for the thrift shop.
