Edblom, Alvin G. (22 FEB 1926 - 25 MAR 2011)
COLBY -- Alvin G. Edblom, 85, of Colby, died peacefully Friday
morning, March 25, 2011, at the House of the Dove, surrounded by
his family and under the tender care of hospice.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 29,
2011, at the Medford United Methodist Church. Pastor Michael
Adedokun and Pastor Zach Burris will officiate. A visitation will
be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church Tuesday.
Interment will be held in the Evangelical Trinity Cemetery in Unity
at a later date.
Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home, Abbotsford, is assisting the family
with arrangements.
Mr. Edblom was born Feb. 22, 1926, in Unity, the son Arthur and
Alvina (Johnson) Edblom. He attended a country school in Unity.
On April 22, 1950, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Unity, Alvin was
united in marriage to Irene Langjahr. She preceded Alvin in death
July 5, 2001.
Alvin and Irene owned and operated several dairy farms in the Unity
and Colby areas, farming for over 50 years. Faith, family and
farming were Alvin's passions in life. He also enjoyed gardening,
cooking, baking, playing cards and scrapbooking.
He was an active member of the Medford United Methodist Church, the
Keenagers Group as well as the Marathon County Holstein Breeders
Association.
Alvin is lovingly survived by his children, Cheryl (Barry) Keller,
Phillips, Deborah (Daniel) Bender, Colby, Perry (Michele) Edblom,
Dorchester, Wendy (Brian) Fust, Wausau, and Carla (Mark) Kelly,
Athens. Eighteen grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren as well
as sisters, Ethel Felker, Oshkosh, Eleanor Mellenthin, Spencer, and
Gail Mainard, Mesa, Ariz., further survive Alvin.
He was preceded in death by his wife Irene, a son, Randy, grandson,
Bradley Fust; brothers, Arnold, Arlyn, Alfred, Arthur Jr., and
sisters, Esther Egnoski, Eileen Safemaster and Evelyn
Alexander.
