Wilbur, Layton O. (10 December 1895 - 18 September 1961)

 

Funeral services for Layton O. Wilbur, 65, were held from the Humbird Methodist Church September 20, the Rev. Homer Fintel officiating.

 

Mr. Wilbur was born in Humbird on December 10, 1895, and died September 18, after a short illness.

 

His early life was spent with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Wilbur, on their small farm south of the village.  He attended Humbird Public School.

 

In March, 1918, he was united in marriage to Jennie Aicher in St. Louis Park, Minn.  To this union were born a son and two daughters.  They lived around Humbird for a few years then moved to Minnesota and for the last 49 years he had made his home in Minneapolis.

 

At the time of this death he was employed as a sheet metal worker and was a member of the International Association of Machinists, Local 1037.

 

He is survived by his present wife, Lola; a son, George H. Wilbur of Minneapolis; two daughters, Mrs. David (Marion) Rosein of Wayzata, Minn., and Mrs. Budd (Cleo) Ledbeter of Minneapolis; two sisters, Mrs. Tyler (Mabel) Merrill, Minneapolis; and Mrs. Henry (Hazel) Harris of Altoona; four grandsons, several nieces and nephews; and three step-daughters, R. A. Sjogren, La Fayette, Minn., Mrs. Maxine Earel, Binghamton, N. Y., and Mrs. Harriet Need, Las Vegas, Nev.  Several step-grandchildren also survive.

 

Burial was made in Mentor Cemetery, beside his sister, the late Mrs. H. (Ada) Farnsworth.

 

Those from away who attended were: his wife, Lola, Mr. and Mrs. George H. Wilbur and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Melby, Mr. and Mrs. Budd Ledbeter, Mrs. T. W. Merrill, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hamman, Mr. and Mrs. Russell A. Sjogren, Mr. and Mrs. David P. Rosein, Mr. and Mrs. George Stanley, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Harris and Fern, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Harris and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Harris.
