Withee, Wisconsin (5 October 1961)
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Zelinski of Rt. 2, Withee now living north of the village on T, have purchased the home formerly owned by the late Mrs. Ida Johnson, just northwest of Withee. They took possession, October 1st.
Mr. and Mrs. Emil A. Hansen and son, Tracy, took little Kris Hansen to Menomonie Saturday night, where they met Kris’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. Larry D. Hansen of Minneapolis, who came to get their small daughter. She had been visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hennig of Wausau, and Mr. and Mrs. Emil A. Hansen of Withee, while her parents were taking a vacation.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Bushing of Chicago have been spending a week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Karrow on Rt. 2, Withee. With them came Mrs. Bushing’s sister, Dr. Ella Karrow of Kaukauna. Mrs. Bushing, the former Mable Karrow and her husband called on old friends in the area.
Klay Keskimaki, who is employed in St. Paul, spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Keskimaki and sons.
The first meeting of the Owen-Withee PTA this year was held last Thursday. Following are the officers: president, Rev. Ralph Claybaugh; vice president, John Sample; secretary, Mrs. Arthur Jarvis; treasurer, Al Rohland; program chairman, Mrs. Martin Keskimaki; membership chairman, Mrs. Chet Nirva; publicity chairman, Mrs. Jim Barager; lunch, Mrs. Emil Rohland, and welfare, Myron Fritsch. Results of the questionnaire sent to parents last spring on types of programs and problems preferred for discussion were considered.
Two-year-old Andy Burmeister of rural Withee has been under care of a doctor due to the effects of a cold.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Bushing, Mrs. Arthur Karrow and Mrs. Margaret Mattes visited friends in Chippewa Falls Tuesday.
Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Chester Nirva is Mrs. Nirva’s aunt from Louisiana.
Tom Misfeldt is in the Marshfield hospital with a virus infection.
Harold Christiansen, president of Withee Lions Club, and Milton Krom, secretary, went to Rosholt to attend the Lions Camp fall conference. The camp for the blind sponsored by the Lions Club is situated at Rosholt.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wendt were in Madison for the weekend visiting with relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wendt were in Appleton Monday.
(Missing words) and Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Grimes. Mr. Erickson is celebrating his 80th birthday Sunday.
Mrs. Adolph Cizek has returned to her home northwest of Withee after visiting children and friends for the last six weeks. First she went to Trenton, Mich., where she stayed at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alfred Trumbo; from there to Detroit where she has a friend; next to Twinsburg, O., where she visited two other daughters, Mrs. Inez Tayler and Mrs. June Kangalbile. On her way home she spent a week in Illinois visiting her son, Earl Cizek in Chicago; and Mrs. Laurene Barsons in Elmhurst; and finally with another son, Norman, in Niles, Ill. Arriving on the "400" Tuesday, her son, Rev. Clarence Cizek of Chippewa Falls, met her and after a day she came home to Withee.
Mr. and Mrs. Allard Clifton and family of Eau Claire have been visiting his sister, Mrs. Glen (Doris) Buchanan this week.
Mrs. Mabel Misfeldt of Thorp recently visited Mrs. Glen Buchanan.
The Rev. Beryl Knudsen of Nazareth Lutheran Chruch, Withee, reports an annual meeting of the congregation will be held October 10.
Terry Frane, 2 1/2, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Frane of Owen, was hospitalized with pneumonia last week.
Eddie and Gerald Martin of Rowan, Ia., on a business trip to Wisconsin, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Rued. Also guests there are Mrs. Rued’s father, F. O. Hoffman of Cedar Falls, Ia., and his niece, Mrs. Mary Truitt, and her son of Los Angeles, Calif.
Kenneth Mertens and son of Madison Wednesday visited his mother, Mrs. Elva Mertens.
Harry Cordes of Milwaukee visited in Withee Wednesday and Thursday. Mrs. Cordes, the former Bessie Bailing, lived in Withee most of her life.
Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Capes had as guest last weekend her brother, C. D. Harmes of Rochester, Ind. Sunday they drove to Marshfield, where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Everett Capes.
Miss Sadie Thorson of Minneapolis spent a few days recently with relatives in Owen and Withee.
