Tesmer, Shirley (13 DEC 1922-21 MARCH 2011)
Shirley J. Tesmer, 88, Loyal, died on Monday, March 21, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. (with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service) on Thursday, March 24, at Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal and again on Friday, March 25, from 10 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 11 a.m., at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. Rev. Jerome Naduvathaniyil will officiate and burial of cremains will take place in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery.
Shirley Jean Schmitz was born on Dec. 13, 1922, in the town of Freemont, Clark County, the daughter of William and Adelia (nee Kopf) Schmitz. She was raised on the family farm and received her education in area schools, graduating from Loyal High School in 1940. She was united in marriage to Eldred H. Tessmer on July 15, 1942 at St. Stevens Catholic Church, Chili. She farmed with her husband in the town of Fremont and also worked at Weyerhauser, Marshfield for 20 years. They retired in 1985, and moved to Phillips, where they lived until moving to Loyal in 1997.
She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and a former member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Chili, where she taught CCD for many years. She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with family, playing cards and fishing.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Eldred, Loyal, four children: Alan (Ellen) Tesmer, Chetek, James (Sherry) Tesmer, Madison, Joanne Tesmer, Marshfield, Susan (Bob) Devine, Racine: seven grandsons; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers; Leroy Schmidtz, Rib Lake, Marlin (Virginia) Schmitz, Granton, Gary Schmitz, Spencer; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son Warren Tesmer, Nov. 1, 2007; and one brother, Russell "Bud" Schmitz.
