Mabie, Altha (8 December 1882 - 5 October 1961)

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Albert Mabie, 79, a former resident of Granton, were held Tuesday afternoon from the Granton Methodist Church. Burial was made in Windfall Cemetery.  Mrs. Mabie died Thursday in Walla Walla, Wash. of old age complications.

 

The former Altha Davis, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Caroline (Huntley) Davis.  She was born December 8, 1882.  She was married in 1905 to Albert Mabie in Neillsville.  The family lived in Granton for several years before going to Reedsburg. Following the death of Mr. Mabie she made her home with her children.

 

She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

 

Mrs. Mabie is survived by the following children: Donovan of Watertown, Milo of Neillsville, Ted of Wilson, Mich., Ernest of Plain, Mrs. Louis (Vesta) Schuetter of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Don (Caroline) Angel of College Place, Wash., Mrs. Clifton (Irene) Clark of Anderson, Cal., and Mrs. Howard (Adeline) Berger of Carney, Mich. Twenty-one grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

 

Funeral arrangements were made by the Bergemann Funeral Home.

 

Pallbearers were her four sons and two sons-in-law: Donavan Mabie, Milo R. Mabie, Ernest Mabie, Ted Mabie, Louis Schuetter and Howard Berger.

 

Mrs. B. H. Crissinger and Mrs. Robert D. Peters, accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott, sang, "Jesus Lover of my Soul" and "Saved by Grace".

 

The services was conducted by Elder Wartzok of Madison, and Elder Albertson of Marshfield. 

 

Out of town people here for the service were: Mr. and Mrs. Louis Schuetter, Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Donavon Mabie and Miss Kathleen Mabie, Watertown; Mr. and Mrs. Milo Mabie and Steve, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. James Holt, Neillsville; Mrs. Don Angel, College Place, Wash.; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Berger and family, Carney, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Mabie, Wilson, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs Ernest Mabie, Plain; Mr. and Mrs. Miron Tonsley, River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Knieciak, St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. Martha Castner, Loyal; Mrs. Bertha Wildish, Hatfield; Mrs. A. W. Hallock and Mrs. Jennie Hallock, Rockland; Mr. and Mrs. Percy Hallock, Bangor; Mrs. Clarence Halle, Mrs. Harold Mohr and Miss Alaina Mohr, Neillsville.
