Schamberger, George (5 APR 1885 - 27 MAR 1958)
One of the few remaining pioneer residents of the city of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), George Schamberger, passed away at his home a week ago today. He was 73 years of age and had been a resident of Owen for the past 46 years.
He was born April 5, 1885, at Whittlesey, Taylor County and attended school at Medford. He was united in marriage to Bessie Bangle in a ceremony performed at Medford, and in 1912 moved to Owe, being engaged in the lumbering industry. Up until his retirement three years ago he had followed that vocation.
Funeral services were conducted Monday from the Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Crubel officiating. Burial was made at riverside Cemetery. Six nephews, Floyd, Harold and Warren Banks, and Allen, Myron and Melvin Bangle served as pallbearers.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Jens Miller and Mrs. Lawrence Clark, and three grandchildren.
