Buss, Theodore (3 NOV 1882 - 12 APR 1958)

Funeral services were held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee, Tuesday afternoon, April 15, at 2:00 o’clock for Theodore Buss, who passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, Saturday, after suffering a stroke one week previous.

Rev. Theodore Predoehl officiated at the service, while vocal selections were sung by Mrs. Edmund Lentz.  Committal and burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were Edmund Lentz, Arthur Schwenke, Julius Rohland, Walter Petke, Adolph Cizek and Ernest Duval.

Theodore Buss, the son of Wilhelm Buss and his wife Marie, nee Latzke, was born on Nov. 3, 1882, at Pella, Shawano County, Wis.  He was received into the covenant with the Triune God by Christian Baptism on Nov. 26, 1882, at the Lutheran Church in Grant, Shawano Co.  Here he confessed his faith in Christ on the day of his confirmation, which was Palm Sunday, in the year 1895, when he was not quite 13 years old.

The deceased was never married, but spent an active life, both as a businessman and especially also as an active Lutheran church member, first in Shawano County, and later in northern Clark County.  For many years he operated a cheese factory, together with his brother, Reinhold, at Clark, in northwestern Hixon Township, Clark County.  When both he and his brother retired from this work in 1945, they moved to Owen, and lived together.  He had a farm at Loyal which he rented out.  He sold it four years ago and had owned the farm 38 years.

The departed brother was a communicant member, a voting member, and also a charter member of the Men’s Club of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee, and at all times displayed an active loyalty and zeal, being very regular in attendance, and devout and pious in his home life.

In the past few years his health was poor, and he underwent surgery a number of times, the last time during eh past winter at the Marshfield hospital.

He suffered a stroke just a week before he passed away, which completely paralyzed his body, and lying in a state of coma the past few days, eh went peacefully to his Heavenly Redeemer when the Sarior’s voice called him home.

He is survived by four brother: Arthur of Shawano, Reinhold of Owen, Paul of Town Pella, Shawano Co., and Walter of Black Creek; besides a number of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and numerous nephews and nieces.  He was preceded him death by two brothers and three sisters.

He attained the age of 75 years, 5 months and 7 days.
