Hoffman, Charles W. #2 (24 MAY 1874 - 21 MAY 1958)

 

Charles W. Hoffman, 83, died Wednesday morning of last week at 9:45 at his home in Abbotsford of a heart ailment.  Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Zink Funeral Home.  The Rev. Lawrence Faivre officiated.

 

Mr. Hoffman was born May 24, 1874 in the town of Eau Pleine.  He received his education in Knowlton and came to Abbotsford in 1912.  He was engaged in the lumber and coal business and also operated a sawmill in partnership with A.J. Young.  He retired in 1936.  He was married to the former DeEtta Hibbard on Nov. 18, 1902, in Knowlton.

 

He formerly held the offices of village president and treasurer, and was on the board of trustees and County Board.  He was past master of the Masonic Lodge at Medford; past patron of Order of Eastern Star; member of the Scottish Rite Consistory at Eau Claire; past watchman of Shepherds of the White Shrine of Wausau, and a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.

 

His wife survives him.  A son, Harold, died in 1936.  Five sisters also preceded him in death.
