Doehr, Lou Ann (Marriage - 11 October 1961)
Miss Lou Ann Doehr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Doehr, Rt. 2 Spencer, was given in marriage Wednesday by her father, to Russel Lee Lang, son of Mrs. Opal Lang, Anaheim, Cal., and the late Edwin Lang in a double ring ceremony performed by the Rev. Lawrence E. Schreiber in Christ Lutheran Church in Chili.
"O Perfect Love" and "Whither Thou Goest" were sung by Don Bersell, with Gary Bersell at the organ. The Rev. Mr. Schreiber used the same text for the ceremony as was used 55 years ago for the wedding of the Bride’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Beil.
For her wedding the bride wore a floor length gown of Peau de Soie, styled with a fitted bodice that was enhanced by a scoop neckline featuring lace appliqués and sequins. The full bouffant skirt, which ended in a chapel train, had roses at the hipline that were attached to a pleated sash with bow at the back. Her French illusion veil cascaded from a pearl and rhinestone crown. Her bridal bouquet was a cascade arrangement of white pompons, Lily of the Valley and red sweetheart roses centered with a white orchid.
Her four bridal aids were Mrs. Edward Hinrichs, Madison, as matron of honor; Mrs. Lawrence Shortess, Marshfield, and Miss Lana Jean Doehr, Spencer, bridesmaids. Becky Mae Doehr, Spencer, was the junior bridesmaid.
The attendants wore identically styled Street-length dresses fashioned of white brocade skirts and red velvet bodices. Each carried a cascade bouquet of white pompons with red streamers.
Bestman was Edward Hinrichs, of Madison. Groomsmen were Elgene Montag, Hewitt and James Menger, Chili. Arwin Beil, Chili, and Kenneth Verhalen, Loyal, were the ushers.
The wedding reception was held at the home of the bride with a supper served in the Church hall.
Mrs. Lang has been employed in a Marshfield restaurant and is a 1960 graduate of the Loyal High School, from which her husband was graduated two years earlier. He has been employed in a garage in Loyal and will be leaving with the 32nd Division for Ft. Lewis, Wash.
Mr. and Mrs. Lang spent a few days in northern Wisconsin on their wedding trip.
Wedding guests were from Owen, Milwaukee, Marshfield, Fairchild, Loyal, Westboro, Neillsville, Hayward, Junction City, Hewitt, Edgar, Granton, Abbotsford; and Kingsford, Mich.
