Aebersold, Marie (11 May 1882 - 5 October 1961)
Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Aebersold, 79, were held from St. John’s United Church of Christ in Humbird Sunday, October 8 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Carl Serr officiating. Mrs. Aebersold died Thursday, October 5.
Mrs. Marie Martha Aebersold, daughter of Christian and Kathrina Aebersold, was born May 11, 1882, in Niederhunigen, Canton Bern, Switzerland. She came to America in the spring of 1904, and was united in marriage to Karl Aebersold on May 3, of that year. They made their home in Green County, Wisconsin, where they were engaged in cheesemaking. In the spring of 1913 they moved onto a farm near Humbird, where they lived for several years.
She is survived by four children: Mrs. Herman (Emma) Gerber and William, both of Humbird; John of Rockford, Ill.; and Mrs. Wendell (Louise) Riggs of Zion, Ill. Seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
The song service was given by Mrs. Dorothy Bryner and Mrs. Jen Harden, who sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Nearer My God to Thee," with Jim Duerkop at the organ.
Pallbearers were her neighbors: Daniel Simonson, Donald Boettcher, Willard Stanley, Art Christen, Fred Aeschbacher and Clarence Giloy.
Burial was made in the Mentor Cemetery beside her late husband.
Among those from out of town who attended the services were: Mr. and Mrs. John Aebersold, Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Wendell Riggs, Misses Catharine and LuAnn Riggs, Zion, Ill.; Alfred Aebersold and John Nussbaum, Monroe; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Elmer, New Glarus; Mrs. Martha Pierce, Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gerber, Madison; Mrs. Kenneth Wolf, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Easterson and girls, Eau Claire; Mrs. Phil Palmer, Byron, Ill.; and Mrs. Gordon Hutch of Zion, Ill.
