Biddle, Terry Lee (23 December 1952 – 1 August 2023)

Terry Lee Biddle, 70, unexpectedly passed away August 1, 2023, in Tampa, Florida, while vacationing with wife Linda.

Born the oldest of three children on December 23, 1952, to Marvel and Leland Biddle in Stanley, he grew up in the neighboring small town of Thorp, and later graduated from Thorp High School in 1971. Marrying Minnette Jepsen in 1972; they had one daughter, LaShawn, and were later divorced. On March 12, 1988, he married Linda (Brown) Ahnefeldt, who brought one son to the marriage, John, and together they had one son, Lee.

Hometown pride and an unwavering work ethic were sources of pride for Terry and among his core values that drove all his pursuits. He often reminisced about the many jobs he had starting at a young age including working at Soderberg’s Farm, Haas & Sons, Midland Gas Station, Wifler Chevrolet, and then for the Thorp Police and Clark County Sheriff’s Departments. In 1975, he moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and began his 20 year career with the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Department holding many positions including jailer, patrolman, pilot, Duty Officer, Swat Commander and Detective Sergeant. He retired from law enforcement in 1995. While working for the Sheriff’s Department, he also formed the companies Photo Card Specialists, Inc. and Awards & More, Co. currently celebrating 37 years in business under his and his wife’s ownership. He gained many friendships and developed many connections in the business and transportation industries, as well as within the law enforcement community near and far. A flying, crime-fighting, Midwesterner through and through, Terry has left a lasting impression on everyone by treating every person as a friend whether he had just met them or had been life-long buddies. He will be truly missed.

Most importantly of all, Terry was proud of his family. He is survived by his wife Linda Biddle; children LaShawn (Travis) Nelson, John Ahnefeldt, and Lee (Alex) Biddle; grandchildren Tyler (Maranda) Nelson, Jacob Nelson, and Jameson Biddle; great grandchildren Tate Nelson, Liam Nelson and Rory Nelson; sisters Penny (Chris) Oelberg, Candy (Jeff) Meeker, brothers-in-law Mark Brown and Randy (Renee) Brown, sister-in-law Sheri (Jeff) Crabtree, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Terry is preceded in death by his parents Lee and Marvel Biddle, in-laws Lance Sr. and Margie Brown, brother-in-law Lance Brown Jr., niece Shanda Nusbaum, nephew Trent Nusbaum, special Uncle Billy, and his beloved dog Sox who is on a long walk with him now.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 416 N. Dewey St., Eau Claire, Wisconsin, with Fr. Antony Joseph and Fr. William Dhien officiating. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the church and again on Thursday morning 1 hr. prior to mass. Luncheon to follow mass on Thursday. Burial will take place at St. Hedwig Old Cemetery in Thorp, Wisconsin; departure, approx. 1:15, after luncheon.

Due to the anticipated volume of cars around the church, shuttle service will be provided if you choose. The Shuttle bus will circle approximately every 15 minutes. The parking and pick up point will be the Brickhouse Pub, 2233 Birch St. Eau Claire. Shuttle times 3:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 16th and 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Thursday August 17th. Return service after the funeral starting at approx. 12:00 p.m. Shuttle service may be offered to transport individuals to the grave side service in Thorp if enough guests require this service.

With great appreciation from the family of Terry Biddle, it has been request that there be no semi-trucks at the funeral services due to logistical issues. In lieu of this, a memorial convoy has been arranged for Friday, August 18th. This is open to all that would like to participate or view. Kramas, Bruce (5 July 1956 – 14 August 2023)

Bruce Kramas, 67, passed away on August 14, 2023, at Marshfield Hospital surrounded by loved ones.

A celebration of life will take place on October 22, 2023, from 1-4 p.m. at Outer Limits in Spencer. All are welcome.

Bruce was born on July 5, 1956, in Marshfield. He grew up in Curtis, and was a graduate of Abbotsford High School. He was united in marriage to Jan Kramas in 1984. She died on February 4, 2009.

Bruce worked at WeatherShield Windows for 20 years before relocating to Dyersburg, TN with his loving wife. There he worked as an over-the-road truck driver until his retirement in 2022.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the Brewers and Packers, and piddling around the yard on his beloved 50-year-old tractor.

Bruce had eight siblings and is survived by his brothers Paul, Jack, and Mark, and sisters, Joanne and Louise. He is predeceased by his sister, Doris, and his brother, Tom. He is also survived by his three stepchildren, Russ, Steve, and David Rothamer as well as three grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jessica, and Lauren Rothamer.

Scheuneman, Lisa Annette (25 November 1960 – 10 August 2023)

Lisa Annette Scheuneman, 62, was taken to her heavenly home on August 10, 2023.

Lisa was born on November 25, 1960, in Wabasha, MN. In 1964 she was adopted by her parents, Edmond and Dorothy (Long) Rohland.

Lisa grew up in Withee, and graduated from Owen-Withee High School in 1978. She was united in marriage to Thomas Hamm on December 2, 1978, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Withee. They resided in Owen, where they lovingly raised their seven children together.

In 2004, Lisa met James Scheuneman and they fell in love. They married on October 14, 2006,
Lisa spent her early years raising her children, because to her family was everything. She worked for various businesses around the Owen-Withee area, but most recently, she found the career of her dreams working with the kids at Owen-Withee Elementary School. Lisa enjoyed bowling, playing slot machines and bingo, farm work, and cake decorating. She was the baker of the family, making everything from cakes, cookies, and sinful desserts, but her biggest weapon was her homemade frosting. Lisa enjoyed socializing with friends, but her life passion was spending time with her family and her dog, Charlie.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Jim Scheuneman of Owen; three Sons: Travis (Stacey) Hamm of Thorp, Brandon Scheuneman of Stetsonville and Brent (Kayla) Scheuneman of Owen; five Daughters: Angela (Nathan) Petke, Megan (Jeff) Hallin, Amanda (Jim) Kroll all of Thorp, Mallory (Virgil) Hamm of Pensacola, Florida, and Paige Hamm of Owen; her daughter-in-law, Kristin (Adam) Hamm of Greenwood; 16 grandchildren: Erin, Cody, Kaylyn, Sara, EricaJo, Ashlee, Daniel, Lillyann, Payton, Brooklyn, Becca, Travis, Matt, Emma, Anna, and Karsyn; three great-grandchildren, Oaklyn, Luke, and Josie; 4 sisters and 3 brothers.

She is preceded in death by her son, Eric Hamm; grandson, Jackson Petke, her sister, Annemarie Dingfelder and her parents, Edmond and Dorothy Rohland.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 21, 2023, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Withee, the Rev. Phil Beukema officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Family and friends are welcome from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 20 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church.

Raine, John Darrel (19 November 1946 – 15 August 2023) With Flag

John Darrel Raine, 76, of Marshfield, WI passed away peacefully at his home the afternoon of Tuesday, August 15th with his family by his side.

John was born in Neillsville, to Darrel John Raine and Eleanor Jane Raine (Kren). He graduated from the Neillsville High School in 1965 and enlisted in the United States Navy, where he proudly served from 1965-1969. His time in the service was spent doing oceanographic research on Grand Turk Island and in Newfoundland.

He married his wife, Carolyn (Cookie) Boon, on August 24th, 1968, in Christie. They were married an amazing 54 years and blessed with 2 children and 3 grandchildren.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator until the age of 72, he loved his job and was always incredibly proud of his work. He’d be happy to explain what was done and would tell stories about previous projects he had completed.

He also had a passion for trains, listening to music, NASCAR and of course, the Green Bay Packers. He was a quiet, private man but had a huge heart and immense love for his family and friends. He wasn’t one to show much emotion but those who knew John, knew when he cared. He enjoyed traveling to Pensacola Beach the last few years for a couple months each spring with Cookie.

John is survived by many loving family members; including his wife, Cookie of Marshfield, and children, Matt (Nikki) Raine of Oconomowoc and Becky (Wade) Guensburg of Marshfield, along with his grandchildren; Harper, Kate and Wesson Guensburg.

He is further survived by his siblings, Diane (Terry) Killham of Munford, TN; James (Georgie) Raine of Neillsville; Ellen (Mike) Artac of Willard; Carol (Gene) Opelt of Neillsville; Candy (Ken) Marg of Neillsville; Joel (Marla) Raine of Neillsville; Emilie (Dan) Miller of Neillsville; Jeff Raine of Neillsville and Brenda (Mark) Wilson of Mosinee. And his In Laws, Harold (Nancy) Boon of Neillsville; Donald (Carol) Boon of Neillsville; Allan (Beverly) Boon of Neillsville; Lois (Louie) Hagedorn of Neillsville; Melvin (Cindy) Boon of Neillsville; Duane (Brenda) Boon of Greenwood and Robert Boon of Honolulu, HI.

John is proceeded in death by his parents, Darrel and Eleanor, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lucille and Alfred Boon and his sister-in-law Nalani Boon.

Those who knew John know that he wouldn’t want a celebration or party of any kind. In respect of him, a private family gathering will be held at a later date.

Moseid, Kai (23 June 1971 – 16 August 2023)

Kai Moseid, age 52 of Neillsville, passed away on August 16, 2023, at home, surrounded by his family.

Kai Nikolay Moseid was born on June 23, 1971, in Chicago, IL, the son of Finn ad Karin (Rakkestad) Moseid. Kai worked construction his entire life. He was proud to work for Kraus-Anderson Construction out of the Twin Cities, MN. Kai and his late father-in-law developed a leave-in place concrete form in which he received a US Patent for in 2009. He was very proud of his patent. On December 10, 1994, he was united in marriage to Cindy K. Hultman in Chicago, IL. Together they had three beautiful daughters that were so very dear to Kai. They were his life. In 2010, he and his family moved to Neillsville, where he restored the "Cornelius House" back to its original beauty.
Kai was a huge Chicago Bears fan, and he loved letting everyone know it. He loved being on his property in Hatfield, drinking Oldstyle, fishing and being on the pontoon in the backwaters. He loved watching Kaia ride horses, and spending time with Ellie and Cali at his property. He enjoyed his yearly trips with his ATV Crew and always had the time of his life with them.

Kai was a hard-working, gentle giant that would bend over backwards to help anyone. He had a warm, beautiful heart and gave the best hugs. He will be dearly missed by so many.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy. Three daughters, Kaia Faith Moseid of Ashland, Ellie Wynn Moseid of Woodbury, MN and Cali Mary-Beth Moseid of Neillsville. Also, his mother, Karin Moseid of Chicago, IL, two sisters, Kim (Mike Marino) Moseid and their children, Finn, Celia, Gunnar and Jens, all of Chicago, IL and Britt (Aksas) Alouani and their children, Nadia, and Lila of Gainesville, FL, his mother-in-law, Mary Hultman of Hatfield, a sister-in-law, Beth (Ed) Lebak of Neillsville, and their children and grandchildren, Alyssa (Shaun) Simpson and their children Gavin, Kayden, Brody and Hudson of Neillsville, and Lindsey (Johnny Lee) Lebak of Schaumburg, IL and Kellie (Mike Solana) Lebak and their daughter, Dannielynn of Neillsville. Kai is also survived by four very close friends in his life, Ryan Monahan, Randy Elmhorst, Mikey Gabriel as well as the son he never had, Luke Erickson.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Finn Moseid and his father-in-law, Wynn Hultman.

Kai's family will receive family and friends for a Celebration of his life from 2:00-6:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, WI.

On August 21, 1948 Valentina (Val) and Edmund (Ed) Badzinski were married in St. Hedwig’s Church in Thorp, Wisconsin. Father Francis Piekarski officiated the ceremony.

The wedding party consisted of Joanna Badzinski, maid of honor, and Joseph Krych as best man. The rest of the wedding party included Betty Badzinski, Marjorie Kubera and Dorothy Yurkowski as bridesmaids and groomsmen were Richard Strzok and Wilbur Karnopp.

Smith, Elaine M. (19 April 1939 – 13 August 2023)

Our mother, Elaine M. Smith, fell asleep for the last time on Sunday, Aug. 13.

She was born in St. Charles, MN, April 19, 1939, where she grew up with her sister Joanne. She lived most of her life in Neillsville where she raised her family. Later in life, she moved to Black River Falls to be closer to her children. We, Reed Smith of Alma Center, Lisa (Robby) McDonald of Hixton and Jeffrey (Glenda) Smith of Black River Falls, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren will love her and miss her all the days of our lives.

We shall all meet, by and by.

Plaskey, Norma Jean (7 March 1938 – 20 August 2023)

Norma J. Plaskey, age 85, of Marshallville, OH, formerly of Loyal, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Wooster Community Hospital in Wooster, OH.

Norma Jean Good was born on March 7, 1938, in West Salem, Wayne County, OH to Ralph E. and Marguerite C. (Plummer) Good. When she was a young child, her family moved to Bruce, where she was raised and received her education, graduating from Ladysmith High School. Norma was united in marriage to James P. Plaskey on June 22, 1957, in Bruce. They resided in Bruce, where she was a homemaker and began raising their family. In 1965, they moved to Jackson, and then to Loyal in 1974. Norma spent most of her life as a homemaker, raising her children and grandchildren, and for a few years at the Amber Inn in Loyal. After the death of her husband, Jim, on November 17, 1995, she remained in Loyal until moving to live with her daughter, Julie, in Marshallville, OH in 2010.

She had many interests, but especially loved reading, baking, and truck pulling with her husband.

Norma will be dearly missed by her children: Lori (Kendall) Krasselt of Loyal, Karen (Rick) Mews of Loyal, Julie (George) Snyder of Marshallville, OH, John (Wendy) Plaskey of Tomahawk, and Andrew (Rebecca) Plaskey of Loyal; 12 grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 18 step great-grandchildren; 4 step great-great grandchildren; and 4 brothers: Kenneth "Ken" Good of Marshallville, OH, William "Bill" Good of Cameron, Earl "Skip" (Jill) Good of Milwaukee, Walter "Punk" Good of Glen Flora; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: James P. Plaskey; grandson: Brad L. Mews; step grandson: Ehren C. Boeger; great-granddaughter: Analiese M. Fryman-Mews; great-grandson: Jansen B. Fryman; grandson-in-law: Eric D. Fryman; step great-granddaughter: Krya L. Fryman; one sister: Anne Good; and one brother: Eugene "Bud" Good.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, August 28, 2023, at Loyal United Methodist Church in Loyal. Rev. Kathy Jury and Pastor Anthony Balistreri will officiate, and burial will follow in the Loyal City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Jimmy Plaskey, Louie Plaskey, Kyle Krasselt, Donovan Plaskey, Stevie Plaskey, and Justton Plaskey. Visitation will be held at the church, on Monday, from 1 p.m. until time of service.

Appleyard, Melvin Fred (18 June 1929 – 14 May 1999)

Melvin Fred Appleyard, 69, Neillsville, died May 14, 1999, at his home.

Melvin Fred Appleyard was born June 18, 1929, in Neillsville, the son of Fred and Lillian (Thoma) Appleyard. He graduated from Neillsville High School in 1947 and then attended the farm short course at Madison for two years. Melvin purchased the Wilbert Kalsow farm in 1950.

On Oct. 15, 1955, he was united in marriage to Margery Rucks in Berlin. After their marriage the couple continued farming and Melvin became associated with many farm organizations: the Farm Bureau, the Wisconsin Holstein Association and he was a 4-H leader. He showed many cattle at the Clark County Fair where he became well known for his registered cattle.

Melvin was a charter member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Neillsville. He wrote the first letter of request to the ELCA to get Calvary started. He also enjoyed music and was a good “Pine Valley Dutchman.” He and his brothers would often play for wedding dances. Among his numerous accomplishments in life, Melvin served as president of the Neillsville School Board from 1962 to 1963.

He is survived by his wife, Margery; a daughter Mary Beth of River Falls; a son David (Debbie) Appleyard of Marshfield; three step grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer and Katherine Altmann; his mother, Lillian Appleyard; a sister, Marian (Truman) Hickitheir of Rochester, Minn.; brothers, Leland (Martha) Appleyard of Sparta, William (Patti) Appleyard, of Rice Lake, Dale (Elvera) Appleyard of Denver, Colo., and Larry (Eileen) Appleyard of Addison, Ill. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary Lutheran Church. Pastor James Gordon will officiate. Music will be provided by Kris Herbrand, organist. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Casket bearers are Kent Appleyard, Dan Clark, Melvin Dux, Billy Thoma, Gordon Thoma and Ronald Zank. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Gesche Funeral Home and again from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Francis J. "Frank" Chodera, age 76, of Owen, formerly of Thorp, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau

Frances Joseph Chodera was born on March 18, 1947, the son of Thomas J. and Rose (Baran) Chodera. He was raised on the family farm in the Town of Thorp, and received his education at area schools, graduating from Thorp High School in 1965. After completing his education, Frank took over the family farm and also worked at Pabich's Grocery Store, and tended bar at the Cardinal Bowl in Thorp. After leaving the farm, he provided transportation to the Mennonite community in the Thorp area for many years.

He had many interests, but especially enjoyed going to auctions and garage sales, and conversing at the Thorpedo and Dairy Bar restaurants in Thorp.

Frank is survived by his 3 children: Jason (Carey) Chodera of Eau Claire, Jennifer (Mike) Angeloff of Chippewa Falls, and Thomas (Andrea) Chodera of Madison; 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at Thorp Funeral Home, in Thorp, from 10 a.m. until noon. Burial will follow in New St. Hedwig Catholic Cemetery.
