Volk, Bertha Lydia (8 September 1881 - 19 October 1961)

 

Mrs. Bertha Volk, 80, lifelong resident of Greenwood died last Thursday evening enroute to a Marshfield hospital from Rib Lake, where she had been visiting her niece, Mrs. Gordon Gehrt.

 

Mrs. Volk, the former Bertha Lydia Wehrman, was born September 8, 1881, in Greenwood. She received her education in Greenwood and was married on November 21, 1906, to Val Volk, who preceded her in death in 1937.  For the past two years she had been a resident of the Clark County Home for the aged in Greenwood.

 

Mrs. Volk was a member of the Zion United Church and its Women’s guild.

 

She is survived by a brother, Otto Wehrman, of Loyal and a sister, Mrs. Gustav (Mary) Abel of Greenwood.

 

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Zion United Church. The Rev. Orval Egbert officiated and burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were all nephews: Henry, Leo and Arno Wehrman of Milwaukee; Albert Wehrman of Loyal, Alvin Wehrman of Greenwood and Gordon Gehrt of Rib Lake.

 

Miss Judy Wehrman of Loyal sang "Jesus, Saviour Pilot Me" and Miss Nettie Miller sang "The Old Rugged Cross," with Mrs. Daniel Olson as organist.
