Harrellson, Gertrude (Anderson) (June 3, 1925 - February 11, 2011)
Gertrude Harrellson, age 85, of Dorchester, passed away February
11, 2011, with her family at her side.
She had been a patient at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, since February 7.
Gertrude was born June 3, 1925, in Ogema, WI to Erick and Gerda
(Nelson) Anderson.
She graduated from Prentice High School at age 16. Shortly after she moved to Chicago, Ill., and went to work for Western Union. Later moving to Mt. Clemens, Mich., she met Tom Harrellson, they were joined in marriage on October 21, 1950.
In 1958, they moved to Dorchester, and purchased Seidel Bros Inc. with business partners, Bernard and Joyce Johnson. It was sold in 1971.
She devoted the rest of her life to her family.
Gertrude is lovingly survived by her son, Gerald (Penny)
Harrellson; and daughter, Pamela Harrellson, both of Dorchester;
six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law,
Mollie Anderson of Castle Rock, Colo. She will be remembered for
her kindness, sense of humor, and love of animals.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom; brothers,
Gerald, and Marlin; stepmother, Elsie; stepsister, Joyce Johnson;
and grandson, Michael Calhoun.
Services will take place at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in
Dorchester on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 1 p.m. with a visitation
from 12 p.m. until the time of service at the church in Dorchester.
Rev. Jerome Freimuth will officiate. Inurnment will take place at
Hillside Cemetery in Ogema, at a later date.
The Maurina/Schilling Funeral Home of Dorchester is assisting the
family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers a donation to your
local human society is appreciated.
