Steinwagner, Russel A. (9 MAR 1962 - 30 MAR 2011)


Russel A. Steinwagner, 49, of Colby died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at the House of the Dove Hospice Home, Marshfield.


Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marshfield. The Rev. Chris Schwanz will officiate and Harriet Brandt will be the organist for congregational singing.


Visitations will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Rembs Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. Tuesday until service time at Immanuel Lutheran Church.


Russel was born March 9, 1962, in Marshfield to Herbert and Bertha "Betty" (Bruesewitz) Steinwagner. He was a 1980 graduate of Colby High School and a 1985 graduate of Concordia University, St. Paul, Minn., where he obtained a bachelor of education degree. He also attended the University of Wisconsin-Wood County. He became a certified nursing assistant and a certified medical assistant.


Russ dedicated his life to helping the terminally ill and for 15 years he worked at the House of the Dove. He volunteered for the support programs for children and at the House of the Dove.


He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting and bicycle riding.


He is survived by his parents, Herb and Betty Steinwagner of Unity and his brothers, Ronald (Tammy) Steinwagner of Rockford, Mich., Richard Steinwagner of Colby, Robert Steinwagner and Randall Steinwagner, both of Unity. He is further survived by Lori and Dan Holtzheimer of Spencer, and their children, Kerri Holtzheimer of Marshfield, a godson, Daniel "Hoagie" (Kristina) Holtzheimer of Auburndale, Brittany Holtzheimer and her son, Jameson of Spencer, Darin Holtzheimer of Spencer, goddaughter, Karisa Holtzheimer of Spencer, and Burl (Sandy) Smith of Marshfield.


Memorials may be designated in his name to the House of the Dove Hospice Home or to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
