Shellhamer, Ellen Elizabeth (1865 –24 October 1961)

Mrs. Ellen Shellhamer, 96, a pioneer resident of Wisconsin, died suddenly at Nurork Nursing Home in Blackwell October 24.  She was brought to Owen where funeral services were held Friday at 1 p.m.  The Rev. Charles Hofflander of Owen officiated.  She was buried at Dexterville beside her husband.

Mrs. Hofflander played the accompaniment and Mrs. Arlie Finnela sang, "Abide with Me" and "He, the Pearly Gates will Open."

Born in Tipton County, Indiana, in 1865, Ellen Elizabeth Crye moved to Dexterville, where she married Lewis Wesley Shellhamer in 1892.

Her husband was a lumber inspector in Dexterville and a saw mill supervisor. They came to Blackwell in 1912, and after this death she lived for a while at Medford and in Owen with a brother.
