Dommer, Leonhard E. (July 4, 1918 - February 17, 2011)


Leonhard E. Dommer, age 92, of Colby, died Thursday evening, February 17, 2011, at St Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.


Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, February 21, 2011, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. Pastor Mark Neumann will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time at the church on Monday. Burial will be at the Colby Memorial Cemetery.


Leonhard was born, July 4, 1918 in Hanks, North Dakota to Carl and Dorathea (Hahn) Dommer.

 

He attended Unity Schools.


Mr. Dommer was united in marriage to Hilda Wiersig at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby on June 24, 1950. Hilda preceded Leonhard in death on Sept 27, 2010.


Leonhard and Hilda owned and operated a dairy farm in Colby.


Mr. Dommer was an avid deer hunter and participated in tractor pulls. Leonhard was also a talented mechanic and could fix most anything.


He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he was a member of the Men’s Club and Dart Ball League.


Mr. Dommer is lovingly survived by four children, Arlene Dommer of Colby, Ken (Jermaine) Dommer of Green Bay, Karen (Carl) Riske of Neenah, and Ron Dommer of Colby; two grandchildren, Joel (Amanda) Riske of Menomonee Falls and Dan (Jill) Riske of Appleton; and one great-grandson, Mason Riske.

 

Leonhard is further survived by two brothers, Delphin (Ruby) Dommer of Colby and Arvin (Elsie) Dommer of Abbotsford.


Besides his wife, Leonhard was preceded in death by a sister, Leona Feckhelm and a great grandson Logan Riske.


Memorials in Leonhard’s memory may be donated to the Lutheran Hour Ministries.


The Maurina Schilling Funeral Home, Colby is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
