Wilson, Mrs. A. M. (Last Recital - 1961)
A note of sadness crept into the piano-voice recital Sunday afternoon at the Owen High School a week ago when it was made known that this would be the last one given by Mrs. A. M. Wilson, who has taught piano and voice for many years in Owen.
The recitals have been a twice-yearly event for more than 30 years, and as one woman remarked, "We feel that a door has been closed on an era of culture in the city of Owen with this last recital."
In making the decision Mrs. Wilson says that it is proving a strain and she feels she needs to take things easier. However, she hastens to add that she will still teach, although this, too, will be slightly more limited.
In her years of teaching many a pupil under her has gone on to a successful career in music.
A perfectionist, she instills her love of the music of the old masters in the young and not-so-young, and has the faculty of bringing out any hidden talent possessed by those she teaches.
