Salo, Kusti L. (20 May 1886 - 4 November 1961)

 

Funeral services were held November 7 in Owen for Kusti L. Salo, 75, of the Town of Reseburg, who died November 4, following a stroke.  Rev. Karl Wilkman officiated at the services and burial was made in Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

 

He was born May 20, 1886, in Finland, and came to the United States in 1906, first living at Gile.  He was married January 20, 1920, to Marie Rintala and shortly after they moved to Reseburg, where he lived the last 41 years.  Mrs. Salo died in 1958.

 

Surviving are two sons, Hugo of Greenwood and Arvo of Wausau; daughters, Mrs. George (Aline) Makinen of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Joyce Hakaham of Chicago, Mrs. Robert (Tami) Briski of Greenwood and Mrs. William (Inga) Lucas of Willard; and two sisters: Mrs. Elizabeth Raki, Chagrin Falls, O., and Mrs. Justina Mantylsala, still in Finland.  Nine grandchildren also survive.

 

Pallbearers were: Frank Kayre, Toivo Maninen, John Wagner, Milton Seaman, Neilo Kytola and Martin Harycki.  Flowers were carried by Mrs. Kayre, Mrs. Maninen, Mrs. Harycki and Mrs. George Wnukowski. 

 

Mrs. Karl Wilkman played and sang, "Blessed Assurance" and "Under His Wings."
