Johnson, Henry Bernard (17 February 1884 - December 1961)

 

Funeral services for Henry B. Johnson, 77, of Greenwood were held last Thursday afternoon from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.  The Rev. Arvid Myhrwold officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were: Albert Fravert, Elmer Windom, Thomas Erickson, Edwin Hegenbarth, Ben Severson and Harry Gordee, Mrs. Arvid Myhrwold and Mrs. Leslie Johnson sang, "The Old Rugged Cross: and "Beyond the Sunset," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Don Warner.

 

Henry Bernard Johnson, son of Andrew and Ingrid (Holverson) Johnson, was born February 17, 1884, in Perry.  He received his education in Blanchardville and came to Greenwood with his parents in 1903.

 

He was married to the former Karen Holverson on November 22, 1911, in the Town of Warner. The couple celebrated their golden wedding in October this year.

 

After their marriage they settled on a farm nine miles northwest of Greenwood, where they resided until they retired in 1952 and moved into Greenwood. For a number of years he was supervisor of the Town of Warner and also was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

 

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Arthur of Belleville, Ill., and Elmer of Malta, Ill.; and a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Edith) Stout of Augusta; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. George (Anne) Vollrath of Greenwood.
