Withee, Wisconsin (21 December 1961)
Mrs. A. C. Little visited relatives in Green Bay and saw her mother off for Florida. Saturday and Sunday she attended a tea at the home of Margaret Bairus in Fond du Lac. She returned home Sunday night.
Mrs. F. E. McMiller has been spending a few days in Chicago visiting relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray E. Clark of Cedar River, Mich., visited Mr. Clark’s sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Park of rural Withee, a few days last week.
Past Worthy Matrons of the Eastern Star met at the Masonic hall recently for a social evening, exchange of gifts and a potluck supper.
The Athletic Association of Owen-Withee school had their play night and Christmas party at the Owen School.
Ronald, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Engel, northwest of the village, had a party for his young friends Sunday afternoon in celebration of his 15th birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. William Kostick of Withee are parents of a son born December 8. She is the former Marie Durbin.
The Withee chapter of the Royal Neighbors had their annual Christmas party December 14, in the basement of the home of Miss Natalie Scherf. On the lunch committee were Mrs. A. C. Little, Mrs. Edgar Alber, Mrs. Rose Hansen and Mrs. Christ Bakke. A luncheon was served with the table décor in keeping with the season. An exchange of gifts took place.
Mrs. A. C. Little and daughter, Joanne, were unable to attend the Christmas party at Neillsville last week of the Job’s Daughters. Miss Joanne will be treasurer next year. Installation will take place late in December.
Future Homemakers held their Christmas party at the Junior High School. After exchange of gifts and dinner, the young people spent the evening caroling.
At a recent meeting of the Withee Lions Club the manager of the Freeport Silo Company, Harvey Harrington, together with Mr. Francis, told the history of the company and showed slides. A thank you note was read from the girl scouts for a gift of money to them by the Lions. Eighteen members were present.
Arno Vater and Floyd Thorne went to Blue River on business last Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Frost and son Saturday attended a pre-Christmas party at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Sandmire of Cottage Grove. Little Carla Frost having chickenpox stayed at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred (missing name).
