Moore, Charles (18 March 1878 - 16 January 1962)

 

Charles Moore, 83, lifelong resident of Greenwood, died January 16, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he was taken by ambulance following a stroke suffered the day before his death.

 

Mr. Moore, son of Stephen and Ellen (Hogan) Moore, was born March 18, 1878, in the Town of Warner.  When he was seven years old he moved with his parents onto the farm five miles north of Greenwood near the Popple River, where he lived until 1958.  He suffered a heart attack and moved to this city, where he lived with his sister, Miss Ivy Moore, who survives.

 

Other survivors are two nieces: Mrs. Blanche Braun of Greenwood and Mrs. Catherine Henricks of Milwaukee.

 

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. 

 

Funeral services where held Friday from the Hill Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gene Carlson of Grace Methodist Church officiating.  Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were: Donald Ossman, Alfons Hemersbach, Howard Olson, Gerald Steffen, Sherman Gosse and Eugene Carteron.

 

During the services, Robert Bartelt and Ernest Maines sang, "In the Garden" and "Rock of Ages" accompanied at the organ by Mary Syth.
