Withee, Wisconsin (25 January 1962)
Mrs. Ed Wendt went to Vermontville, Mich., last week Wednesday to visit her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Konechni. Enroute she stayed for a day with relatives in Madison.
Tracy Hansen and George Bache last Thursday went to Minneapolis and visited at the home of Tracy’s brother, Larry D. Hansen, for the weekend.
Due to extremely cold weather, the Royal Neighbors have again postponed their meeting for another week to February 1.
Mrs. Seena Petersen, who has been hospitalized for surgery, will stay for a short time at the home of a nephew, Floyd Petersen, in Marshfield before returning to her home in Owen.
Miss Debbie Mueller, seven-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Mueller of Withee, underwent an emergency appendectomy in Stanley Memorial Hospital Sunday. Children of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Arndt, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gay also are recovering from appendectomies.
Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Nauel, Sr., visited their daughters in Weyauwega over the weekend.
Mrs. Charles Zivney entertained friends one day last week. Present were Mrs. Pete Mattoen, Mrs. William Catura, Mrs. Archie Nourse and Mrs. Gus Molzen.
Mrs. Edgar Albert and her two sisters, Miss Beth Thorson and Mrs. Ben Snyder, went to Richland Center Saturday to visit Mrs. Albert’s son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Albert.
A meeting of Past Matrons of the Eastern Star was held at the home of Mrs. Henry Wollum in Owen one night last week. Five hundred was played and Mrs. l. W. Cattanach won first prize, Mrs. A. C. Little second, and Miss Allie Hutchens low.
Mrs. Joe Peterson and son, and Mrs. Grace McCloud and Miss Heighton, all of Stanley, visited Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Karrow.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Kell last week moved into the house that they had moved from north of Withee about a month ago.
William Catura of Owen has been in Chicago going to teletype school. He came home Friday for (missing line)
Mrs. Ed Freiderich and Mr. and Mrs. Phil Ceslick drove to Eau Claire last week Wednesday to visit Mrs. Bertha Auberg.
Mrs. Leon Bower was taken to a Marshfield hospital last week for surgery.
Mrs. Delia LePage went o Milwaukee last week to see her new grandson, recently born to her daughter Mrs. Jim Marina.
The Clinic building of Dr. G. R. Scharer is to be featured next April in the ‘Digest of Chiropractors’’ issues as "the office of the month."
A fire run was made late last Thursday by the Owen fire department to the Edwin Ratz home in Green Grove, southeast of Owen. The chimney fire, although quite troublesome for a time, was soon put out.
The Brownies made wall plaques at their meeting. Mrs. Ethel Johnson is the leader.
Mrs. Chet Nirva and Mrs. Mary Misfeldt went to Eau Claire Thursday.
