Crowley, Patrick (22 FEB 1882 - 3 JAN 1959)

A Requiem Mass was sung Wednesday morning at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen, for Patrick Crowley, with Father H.L. Crubel officiating.  Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers at the final rites were Harvey Weddig, Ed Rusch, Roy Gabriel, C.E. Beck, Julius Johnson and Adolph Haavisto.

Patrick Crowley was one of the few remaining pioneer residents of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), having come here in the lumbering days and continued to make his home here for the past 66 years.  He passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield Saturday following surgery for a fracture hip.  The injury was sustained in his home while opening gifts Christmas Eve.

He was born Feb. 22, 1882, in Ontario, Canada, and was 77 years of age at the time of his death.  He came to the United States in 1886, making his home at Thorp until 1893, when he moved to Owen, gaining employment with the John S. Owen Lumber Co. with whom he served as barn foreman for 35 years.

In 1907 he and Loey Redwine were married in a ceremony performed at Neillsville.  She passed away in 1921 and in July 1932 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Olga Larsen in a service conducted here.

He is survived by his widow, two sons, James of Owen and John of Milwaukee; two daughters, Mrs. (Alice) Kirkpatrick, Waukegan, Ill., and Mrs. William (Rose Marie) Micke Jr. of Thorp; one brother, Fred, of Owen, and two sisters, Margaret Crowley, Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. John Murray, River Falls, Wis.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Plenny Warren.
