Holm, Niels (4 DEC 1879 - 4 JAN 1959)

A pioneer Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) resident, Niels Christian Holm, was placed in his final resting place at Nazareth Lutheran Cemetery, Withee Tuesday, Jan. 6th.  The Rev. W. Clayton Nielsen, pastor of Nazareth Lutheran parish, of which the deceased was a lifelong member, officiated.  Solo was rendered by Mrs. Kenneth Phillips, with Miss Karen Potocnik accompanying on the organ.

Serving as pallbearers were Clarence Miller, Bert Miller, Jens Miller, Armond Miller, Thomas Miller and Edward Miller.  In charge of the floral offerings were Mesdames Ed Bergstrom and J. Peters, and Misses Helsa Andersen and Helene Beck.

Niels Christian Holm passed away Sunday, Jan. 4, 1959, at Luther Hospital at Eau Claire where he was being treated for a heart condition.  He had attained the age of 79 years.

He was born in Kolding, Denmark, Dec. 4, 1879.  At an early age he came to America with his parents.  After spending his early years in Chicago, Ill., he came to Withee at the age of 15 years.  During the early years he was employed at Paulson’s Sawmill and he also operated the light plant in Withee.

On Dec. 15, 1909, he was united in marriage to Christiana Miller in a ceremony performed at Withee.  Two daughters were born to this union.  Mrs. Holm preceded him in death, passing away in 1937.

His passing is mourned by two daughters, Karen and Alfa, both of Withee; and two sisters, Christence Holm and Mrs. Florence Kelly, Chicago, Ill.
