Tisdale, William (29 MAR 1875 - 5 FEB 1959)

 

Final rites for William D. Tisdale, a resident of the Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) community for 59 years, were held Saturday, Feb. 7, with services being conducted from the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home.  The Rev. W. Clayton Nielsen, pastor of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee, officiated, with burial at Riverside Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Hugo Wolters, Aaron Hodnett, Lynn Hodnett, Laurence Munson, Leo Stewart and Edward Poppe.

 

Death came to William Tisdale on Thursday, Feb. 5, 1959, while he was a patient at Victory Memorial Hospital at Stanley, where he was being treated for complications of old age.  He had attained the age of 83 years, 10 months and 4 days, having been born March 29, 1875 in Richland Co., Wis.

 

In 1897 he was united in marriage to Clara Purcell in a ceremony performed in Richland County.  Three years later the couple came to Clark County, settling on a farm near Wolters corners, southwest of Withee, where they resided until his retirement three years ago, when they moved to the village of Withee.

 

His passing is mourned by his wife; three sons, Glen, Eau Claire; Henry, Greenwood, and Bert of Withee; five daughters, Delia Cerney, Withee; Ruby Price, Chicago, Ill.; Frieda Anthop, Texas; Leora Schultz, Winnetka, Ill., and Helen (Mrs. Ralph Lybeck), Milwaukee; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.  One son and one daughter have preceded him in death.
