Gay, Darlene (31 JAN 1959)

Miss Darlene Gay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thaddeus Gay, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), and Art Braun, son of Mr. and Mrs. Benedict Braun of Loyal, were united in marriage at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Owen.  The double ring Nuptial Mass was performed at nine thirty Saturday, Jan. 31st, 1959 by Father H.L. Crubel.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, selected a floor length gown of nylon tulle with rose point lace and rose accents.  The fitted bodice in rose point lace was featured with a Sabrina neckline and long tapered sleeves.  Her fingertip tapered veil fell from a tiara of pearl beading and iridescent sequins.  She carried a cascade bouquet of pink roses and white carnations.

Serving as the bride’s matron of honor was her sister-in-law, Mrs. Ernest Gay.  Maureen Devine, the bride’s friend, was bridesmaid, and Shirley Gay had the role of junior bridesmaid for sister’s wedding.  The girls were attired in waltz length gowns in sapphire blue.  The skirts were full with fitted bodices with a pointed scalloped scoop neckline.  They carried cascade bouquets of pink and white carnations.

Rosalyn Gay, the bride’s niece, was flower girl.  She was dressed in a floor length gown of ice blue velveteen which was styled identical as the bridesmaids.

The groom’s brother, Ronald, was best man.  Mike O’Connell, a friend of the groom, was groomsman.  Ushers were the bride’s brother, Ernest, and a friend of the groom, Robert McGarvey.  They all wore white dinner jackets with blue trousers.

Breakfast was served for the wedding party and immediate families at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Gay.  A reception was held at the Woodland Hotel from two to four-thirty, at which 130 guests were received.

A trip was made to Phoenix, Ariz., where the young couple will make their home.
