Rueth, Sylvester Daniel (22 March 1925 - 13 April 2011)

 

Sylvester D. Rueth, 86, of Loyal died at Neillsville Care & Rehab Wednesday, April 13, 2011.

 

Sylvester Daniel Rueth was born March 22, 1925, in Loyal, the son of Albert and Martha (Mrotek) Rueth.  He was raised on the family farm and received his education at St. Balthazar’s Parochial School and Loyal High School.  After completing his education, Sylvester worked on the family farm and also at the Loyal Cannery. He was united in marriage to Dorothy E. Frye at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal. They raised five children and farmed in the Loyal area until retiring in 1981, at which time they moved into Loyal.  Sylvester then worked as a custodian for the Greenwood Public Schools, through Green Thumb, until 2009.  He also worked at the City of Loyal’s recycling center for a few years.

 

He is a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and had many interests, but especially loved horses, gardening, his lawn, small animals and polka music.

 

Sylvester is survived by two daughters, Barb (Ollie) Schultz of Colby, Mary (Joe) Weyer of Loyal; three sons, Mike Rueth of Loyal, Bill (LuAnn) Rueth of Loyal, Joey (Deb) Rueth of Neillsville; 11 grandchildren, Jacqui (Pat) Fons, Tobi (Jeremy) Snyder, Tawnee Schultz, Todd (Kristin) Rueth, Jesse (Nikki) Rueth, Bucky (Liz) Rueth, Arron (Tara) Rueth, Tiffany (Andrew) Meuleners, Matt (Jen) Weyer, Hannah Weyer (Fiancé Troy Smith), John Rueth, AJ Rueth; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Don (Marilyn) Frye of Mr. Horeb; nieces, nephews, special friend Mae Revak, other relatives and friends.

 

Sylvester was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy, Dec. 21, 1999; one son, Raphael, in infancy; and one sister, Cecelia Bugar and her husband, Paul Bugar.

 

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2011, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal, with visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Jerome Naduvathaniyil officiated and burial followed in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.
