At the Owen-Withee "sweater swing," a yearly event sponsored by the Pep club, Sherrie Amacher, senior high student, was chosen "Sweater Queen." The dance was Friday night.
Three ambulance calls were answered last weekend. Sunday the ambulance brought Mrs. Jay Bogue to the Havenet Nursing Home in Owen. Mrs. Bogue, formerly of Withee, suffered a stroke some time ago.
Gus Anderson, four miles south of Owen, broke his wrist cranking a tractor and then had a slight heart attack. He was taken to a Marshfield hospital Sunday night.
Monday forenoon Peter Cuzakuski, who had been in poor health for some time, was taken by ambulance to the Marshfield hospital.
Mrs. Robert Halburg and baby of Barron will spend the week at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Christiansen in Withee, while Mr. Halburg is in Madison on business.
At the board of directors meeting of the Curtiss State Bank, Fred Fricke, Owen, was named cashier. Mrs. Floyd Klementson will be assistant cashier; and Mrs. John Bacon, manager of the Owen branch office. Alfred Erickson was re-elected president, and O. A. Laabs, vice president.
Mrs. Len Bower returned to Withee Sunday. She underwent surgery about 10 days ago.
The Friendly Homemakers of Withee met Monday at the home of Mrs. Anna Sorensen. Mrs. V. A. Hansen and Mrs. Sorensen gave the lesson.
Mrs. Ed Wendt has returned to Withee after spending a week at the home of her parents in Vermontville, Mich. Her mother is seriously ill. Mrs. Wendt’s eldest son, Ed, Jr., who is attending the University at Madison, accompanied her and returned with her to Withee. He was between semesters.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Clark and daughter and Mrs. Clarence Duns of Owen spent the weekend in the Twin Cites. Mrs. Duns visited her daughter, Patty, and the Clarks visited his sister, Miss Gertrude Clark in St. Paul and attended the Winter Carnival.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Clark received news that their daughter, Linda, of West Allis, has passed he sate board examinations and is now a registered nurse.
Mrs. Ted Roberson went to Madison Monday morning to visit her mother, Mrs. Mary Weaver. She will be gone several days.
Mrs. Nick Lehnen is in a hospital in Milwaukee. She will be there for a week or more.
The young village Homemakers group met at the home of Mrs. Mary Misfeldt Friday afternoon. The hostess had the program on cooking of meats.
The auction on the Chris Eli farm, northeast of Withee Monday, brought prices on cows from $300 to $400 a head.
House guests at the Robert Habighorst home in Owen have been Mr. and Mrs. Norman Senzeg, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Senzeg, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Senzeg, Mr. and Mrs. Ruegen Monroe and Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Habighorst, all of Bonduel. They were here for the wedding of the Habighorsts’ son Saturday.
Mrs. Ethel Clark and Mrs. Bobette Tormey made a business call in Thorp recently.
