Auberg, Roy (27 SEP 1916 - 31 MAR 1959)

Roy Auberg, manager and co-owner of Auberg Pontiac and businessman in the village of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) for more than 20 years, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon at his home.  Death was attributed to a heart condition.

He had been at the garage working strenuously that forenoon and upon coming home for lunch at noon complained of not feeling well, and decided to lie down for a rest.  Later when his wife went in to awaken him she found that he had apparently suffered a heart attack during his sleep.

He attained the age of 42 years, 6 months and 4 days.  His sudden death came as a distinct shock to his family and the entire community.

Born Sept. 27, 1916, at Withee, Wis., Roy Auberg was the son of the late Adolph Auberg and his wife, Bergitta, nee Anderson.  He received his elementary education in the public school at Withee.  He was married on Nov. 17, 1938, to Miss Veryl Buss, who survives him.  One daughter was born to this union, named Judith.  She is a senior this year in the Owen-Withee High School.

The deceased was well known at Withee, as he operated the Auberg Pontiac Garage for a number of years.  The Withee Café was also a project operated by him and his wife.  He was of a personable disposition and generous to a fault.

He had been baptized in infancy in the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee, and became a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee, in Nov. 1954.  The marriage ceremony on Nov. 17, 1938 was performed at the Thorp Lutheran parsonage by Rev. F. H. Sprengler.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 3, at 2:00 p.m. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee, being conducted by Pastor Theodore Predoehl, who will preach on St. John 5:28-29: "All Shall Hear His Voice."

Mrs. Herman Rabska will be organist, and Mrs. Theodore Klabon, the singer.  Pallbearers, regular: Paul Tomich, Walter Draheim, Harry Bunk, Bill McAdam, Norbert Bruchert, Lester Hansen; Honorary: Robert McAdam, Edgar Linjer, Grant Anderson, Chris Petersen, Ervin Zelm, Ed Le Page.  In charge of the floral offerings will be Mesdames Norbert Bruchert, Lester Hansen, Edward Le Page, Cecil Tormey and Ervin Zelm.

The deceased is bereaved by his sorrowing widow, Veryl; and daughter, Judith, also his aged mother, Mrs. Bertha Auberg, one sister, Mrs. Martin Paulsen, and two brothers, Bernard Auberg of Withee, and Anton B. Auberg of Eau Claire.  One sister, Mildred, had preceded him, having died in infancy, as well as two younger brothers, Harold and Gordon.
