Zuercher, Lorrayne Esther (13 April 1921 - 18 April 2011)
Lorrayne Esther (Lewallen) (Asselin) Zuercher, age 90, of Stanley, went home to her Lord & Savior, Monday, April 18, 2011, at the Clark Co. Health Care Center, Owen. She was born on April 12, 1921, at her family home in Stanley to the late Walter and Mary (Preston) Lewallen. Lorrayne grew up in the area attending area schools, graduating from the Pleasant Valley School south of Stanley. When she was growing up she enjoyed spending summers at her grandpa and grandma Preston’s, on a farm near Eau Claire.
On October 2, 1939, she married Gilbert J. Asselin who preceded her in death in March of 1974. She remarried to Jack Zuercher on November 30, 1981, in Miami, Oklahoma. Jack preceded her in death on November 12, 2002. Lorrayne spent her life living in Stanley, Thorp and Centertown, AR. She was an active member of the Abundant Life Church of Thorp, and enjoyed reading her Bible every day, spending time crocheting and most of her time with her families and taking care of her home.
She is survived by her children: Violet (De Von) Schlegel, Jerry (Margaret) Asselin both of Janesville, and Esther (Richard) Rosemeyer of Thorp; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; siblings: Glen Lewallen, William (Laura) Lewallen, Clair (Barbara) Lewallen all of Stanley, Arnold Lewallen of Eau Claire, David (Cheryl) Lewallen of Chetek, & Adelyn (Robert) Velie of Ozark, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, Gilbert J. Asselin and Jack Zuercher; one son, Albert, in 1977; sister, Myra Borden; and brother Jack Lewallen.
Funeral services for Lorrayne will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 21 at the Abundant Life Pentecostal Church in Thorp, with Rev. John Sindler officiating. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the Church. Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family.
